In 2008, the town of Oshiyie, Ghana embarked on a journey to open the first local high school in their region of Western Accra. The school now educates over 70 students from the local and surrounding communities. The goal is for students to utilize the skills they learn in the classroom to help with local development projects. For example, in August 2013 the students completed a wind turbine capable of generating enough power for their campus; a project started in the summer of 2012.
Pan African Global Academy works closely with its founder, Carolyn Rouse, a professor of anthropology at Princeton University. Pan African Global Academy is envisioned as a location where American student interns and Ghanaian students can imagine working together to create a more equitable and sustainable future.
Students can pursue Business, General Arts, Visual Arts and ICT pathways alongside a strong core curriculum designed to prepare them for tertiary education and professional careers.
Students gain practical experience through hands-on projects, innovation challenges and community initiatives that strengthen creativity, leadership and problem-solving skills.
Through partnerships, cultural exchange and collaborative learning opportunities, students are equipped to contribute meaningfully to both their local communities and the wider world.
